Hamstrung

Riddle me this readers - what do these four Chicago Cubs have in common with each other?:

The title of this post might have given it away; but, all four of these Northside baseball players have suffered from hamstring injuries that have landed them on the disabled list.  In fact, both Jorge Soler and Dexter Fowler are currently residing there.  Straining your hamstring appears to be the hot new injury craze of 2016 in Chicago.

Unfortunately, it looks as though I'll be adding my name to that document... well, that is if MLB fans were eligible to be placed on said list.  It appears as though I severely strained my RIGHT hamstring on the last repeat of my track workout yesterday evening.  Literally, the last step of my last repeat.  Harumph.

If this all sounds a bit familiar, that's because I actually tore my LEFT hamstring almost exactly one year ago, to the day.  Talk about freaky coincidences.  Anyway, that's the way it goes sometimes, I suppose.

The good news is that I think I'll be ready in time to play in the All-Star game in San Diego... oh wait, that's Fowler, not me.  At any rate, if I've learned anything in the last couple of days, it's that things could be much, much worse and I'm not going to complain about having to stay off of my feet for the next little while.

Not to mention, we human beings only have two hamstrings, so I should be safe next July, right?

  1. Man, sorry to hear that. I once severely pulled my right one backing up a flyball during the last out of a game. Again, Harumph.
