Getting to race, at any level, at that speedway has to be the experience of a lifetime. Also, I see that the ROY voting was split in '78 - I'm guessing you mean Larry Rice? Either way, that's a pretty damn cool familial connection!

Agreed on Alonso - I was pulling for him because his presence only brings more prestige. Ideally, it'd be phenomenal if we could see more crossover with the top drivers from other forms of motorsport showing up for May. Alonso and Kurt Busch are really the only interlopers there have been in the past few years.

On the other hand, perhaps his missing the race creates more of an aura around the event going forward - even the great Fernando Alonso is just another driver when it comes to the Indy 500.Tony Burbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17916383902665781661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-12063650591540416632019-05-21T08:00:59.707-05:002019-05-21T08:00:59.707-05:00I'm a big motorsports fan, it's in my fami...I'm a big motorsports fan, it's in my family. I have two family members who raced at Indy in 2017 (not in the 500). We're also family friends with the 1978 Indy rookie of the year.

This museum photos are awesome. I've been to Indy twice and haven't gone to the museum either time, and I can't tell you how much I regret it.

I'm actually disappointed Alonso didn't make the field. I guess it's sort of like the Yankees missing the Playoffs and a lot of people take pleasure in it, but he's a world class racer and the field would have been more exciting with him in it.The Lost Collectorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07281282785351456790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-32419672243099057992019-05-20T22:35:25.450-05:002019-05-20T22:35:25.450-05:00Although I collect racing cards here and there... ...Although I collect racing cards here and there... I honestly don't follow racing. And on the rare occasion that I do... it's NASCAR. But if I were to predict any bloggers who are also Indy fans... I'd go with Billy @ Cardboard History. He loves his cars.Fujihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00749100861086458307noreply@blogger.com
