The fact that he was the all-time saves leader when he retired should have gotten him elected years ago.Fujihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00749100861086458307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-35361222447102749172018-12-10T18:52:25.037-06:002018-12-10T18:52:25.037-06:00Very cool to see Lee Smith get elected. I thought he had a good chance on the BBWAA ballot when he reached 50% of the vote; I even took his cards out of my commons binders and put him in my stars/HOFers box for a year or two. Then when his vote totals sank I thought there was some sabermetric component I wasn't understanding, especially after Sutter got in with far fewer saves.

Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10268829182522679026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-88584737905073157492018-12-10T17:42:59.648-06:002018-12-10T17:42:59.648-06:00Well deserved and well overdue. The exclusion of Lee Smith until now, though, has been a travesty, and it's about time they did something about it. I don't understand any case for Sutter being in but Smith being out.DMAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09740017654652045829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-57465611773487285982018-12-10T14:22:45.594-06:002018-12-10T14:22:45.594-06:00I am excite to Smith take his rightful place in th...I am excite to Smith take his rightful place in the Hall. He was a dominate reliever and one of the best of his era. About 3 years back I had the chance to meet him prior to a Spring Training game in Phoenix. I bought a signed baseball for a $20 charity donation and told him that my hope was the next time we met he could inscribe HOF on a new ball. He smiled but didn't say much. I look forward to seeing him again and getting an updated ball.arpsmithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15906792508761334151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3748335246635491217.post-68733068744719170112018-12-10T12:56:50.870-06:002018-12-10T12:56:50.870-06:00As a Cardinals fan, I have some really mixed emoti...As a Cardinals fan, I have some really mixed emotions about Lee Smith getting into the Hall. I am a small Hall person and I do not put a lot of value into most relievers. However, Smith was one of the best from his generation and he held most of the records in terms of saves when he retired. Trying hard to be happy for the former Cardinal, Cub too. The Snorting Bullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376669412007613030noreply@blogger.com
